I know a lot of folks drink cranberry juice to prevent urinary tract infections, but cranberry juice cocktail is loaded with sugar, because cranberries in their natural state are so tart. Yesterday while cleaning out my fridge (YUCK!) I found my bottle of unsweetened cranberry juice concentrate -- 8 teaspoons of the stuff with 8 fluid ounces of water makes 8 ounces of unsweetened cranberry juice. I came up with an idea that worked out beautifully. Indeed, this tastes a lot like the cranberry juice spritzers I used to buy at the health food store back when I thought juice was healthy. This isn't terribly low carb, but it's a good alternative for those of you who really find you need cranberry juice to prevent cystitis. I feel your pain, or at least I have in the past. Repeatedly.
Cranberry Spritzer
1 tablespoon cranberry concentrate
1 drop liquid splenda -- or to equal 2 teaspoons sugar (I used EZ Sweetz)
8 ounces berry sparkling water, chilled
Simply combine the cranberry juice concentrate and liquid Splenda in a tall glass, fill with ice, and top with the sparkling water. Drink right away.

Note: My bottle of cranberry juice concentrate says it has 28 grams of carb in 8 teaspoons, but only 15 grams of sugars. It doesn't mention fiber, and I have a hard time imagining it has much starch. So I'm wondering what the other 13 grams of carb consist of. Perhaps some googling is in order...

That sounds great, and I have a related suggestion. Ocean Spray makes a 'diet' version of their cranberry juice with no or very few carbs (make sure you buy the 'sugar free' and not the 'lite' version, which does have sugar). It is sweetened with Splenda. I mix half a juice glass of this with half a juice glass of the Baja Bob's original Margarita mix, which is a great lime drink available from Carbsmart. This makes a great breakfast juice drink (without the tequila, of course).

No Tequila?!
No tequila for breakfast? Shoot. You never let me do anything fun.
