Egg Fast Followup
A number of you have asked for an update on my egg fast, so here it is: I did nothing but eggs for two days, Monday and Tuesday of last week. I had four eggs per meal, three meals a day. Each of those days, I had them medium-boiled for two meals, and scrambled in 1/2 teaspoon of bacon grease for the third. This came to 6.7 grams of carb per day (eggs do have a tiny bit of carb in them) and fewer than 1000 calories. (I could look it up, but it stick in my mind it was 978.)
Wednesday I did boiled eggs for two meal, but then had a celebratory dinner with That Nice Boy I Married that evening because it was his birthday -- Greek roasted chicken, roasted brussels sprouts, salad, and dry red wine. Didn't calculate, but am certain it was still a very low carb and darned low calorie day.
By Thursday morning, I was down 5 pounds. I have not had trouble keeping that off for the past week. I consider the egg fast to have been a success, not only because I knocked off five pounds quite quickly, but also because I was never hungry, my energy was high, my mind clear, and my mood good. This is a tool I will keep in my hip pocket. Indeed, I may do it again a couple of times before the cruise. Nothing like wearing a bathing suit in public to make you want to shake a few.
