Several people have recommended FitDay to me over the years, and in the past few days I've started using it. I've used MasterCook to track my food intake in the past, and of course I'm using it to analyze the recipes I'm writing for the expanded edition of 15 Minute Low-Carb Recipes.
But MasterCook has a nasty habit of locking up my computer and crashing. I don't know if it's because I'm running a version that's several years old, or if it's because I have so many recipes in there it eats up a lot of memory, or what. But it's annoying. FitDay, on the other hand, isn't on my hard drive, so it's conservative of my disc space. And it's easy to use.
I used to have a similar program on my PDA. Sadly, my PDA ran out of juice and wiped all my programs, not to mention my phone numbers. I was not amused, and have returned to using a dead-tree Daytimer . Doesn't make me look cool and current, nor does it make phone calls or post tweets. On the other hand, unless it burns up, I'll have my data for as long as I need it.
I digress. The point is I no longer have a special program on my PDA to track my food intake, but I do find that when I do track I start losing slowly. So I'm using FitDay, and I like it. One thing I especially like is the little graph it draws me of my macronutrient percentages. That pie chart you can see? The yellow is my protein, the blue is my fat, and the purple is my carbs, as of this moment today. When I tell you I eat a low carb, moderate protein, high fat diet, I ain't kidding.
My thanks to those of you who have recommended FitDay!
If you ever decide to go back to using a PDA...
If you ever decide to go back to using a PDA, did you know you can download all of your contents from your PDA onto your computer?? That way if your PDA dies, you can just reload your files onto a new one. And you can save contact info from your PDA into a format that can is compatible with other programs such as MS Word.
Am new to your blog and lovin' it. Argh!!
For Mac
I use Calorie King for Mac. I've always been pleased with it.
I LOVE FitDay
I saw that the previous commenter had problems with it. I use it both online and the PC version and sync my account. I have never had a problem and I use it religiously every day! Go FitDay!
Fit Day
I've tried Fit Day a few times and it frustrates me to no end. I now use FatSecret, much more user friendly and you still get the circle graph!
