Daily Menu January 5th, 2008
The same yummy mushroom/onion/liver/fried egg thingie I did earlier in the week. I still had livers and mushrooms in the fridge, and who wants to let them go bad?

A whole rib eye steak! Friday night I'd had to thaw a package of three steaks to get one to serve, and I screwed it up, and ended up with thawed steaks in the fridge. (I'd meant to thaw them only enough to break the three apart and throw two back in the freezer.)
But I'd promised I'd do something more interesting, so I made this to put on top of the steak (this is actually double what I made, and should do for 2-4 people.)
Blue Cheese Mushrooms
2 teaspoons olive oil
2 teaspoons butter
8 mushrooms, sliced
1 medium onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 tablespoons crumbled blue cheese
seasoned salt to taste
pepper to taste
4 dashes tabasco sauce
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
This is easy! In a big skillet over medium heat, combine the olive oil and butter, swirling them together as the butter melts. Throw in the mushrooms, onions, and garlic.
Saute until the onions are starting to brown and the mushrooms have softened and changed color. Add the blue cheese, and stir till it's mostly melted in. Stir in the seasonings, and serve.

I pan-broiled the rib-eye in a very hot frying pan until it was crusty-brown outside and still pink in the middle, topped it with the mushroom mixture, and devoured the whole darned thing. Which was, I admit, wretched excess. Also the reason why having eaten at 6, I wasn't hungry again until very late, when I ate
